WW - I don't mean to be condescending (I'm not a mechanic by any stretch) but I think this might help you. LOADS of good info here. Almost information overload!

beers2u, good catch. :chug:

the dipstick is located on the right rear corner of the sump on my '03 S3. given that rearward location, if the rear of the bike is elevated on a track stand while checking oil, the result will be an overfill of the crankcase. i'm not sure where the sight glass is.

the most accurate reading is obtained with the bike vertical on a level surface.

EAST END MOTORCYCLES.

By the way, I am pretty sure I still have their bill when I brought it in there last summer after the bike spent most of the night down on its side. As you know, in that case oil goes all over the place so there is cleaning and stuff to do.
I am curious to know what they charged me....

best,
ww
This guys a ***** crooks.
They actually DAMAGED my bike trying to do a typical recall to it before i picked it up. BRAND NEW. The only damage was things they did, HITTING THE SWINGARM WITH A HAMMER trying to do the rear wheel bearings service. they couldn't do it SO THEY LEFT IT AS IT WAS and never mentioned ANYTHING to me in regards to the recall or the damage.
CROOKS!
if i was to see the owner of that place i'd as soon as slug him cross the face as shake his hand.

DO NOT take your bikes for service here.
DO NOT consider buying bikes from this place.

they don't know what they are doing. let them stick to selling vespas and storing unridden harleys for the winter...
