i'm planning to order a pipe and i've searched the threads and as always, i appreciate the info, but still am left with some questions. because $$ is a limiting factor (isn't it always  ), i'm looking at a stainless low mount pipe and have narrowed it down to scorpion or jardine, and leaning towards scorpion.

for either of these: could anyone weigh in on:
overall quality, fit and finish
noise level & character of the exhaust note
appearance when mounted
overall performance (both indicate that remapping isn't required)

which would you choose?
thanks all

Have you considered a Barracuda? I picked one up for $245 plus shipping from SMF Cycles. It's a mellow-sounding pipe, and the fit and finish is VERY good. Also, it comes with a removable baffle which is very handy for those longer rides when you need it to be a bit quieter.

Also, have you considered the Triumph off road pipe? The GREAT thing about the TOR is that the dealer can install the factory designed fuel map for you - and many do it free of charge when you buy the pipe. If you go with an aftermarket brand, you'll either need a Tuneboy or Power Commander in order to create an optimal fuel map. Without some fuel map modifications, you'll likely get some backfiring, too.

I am running the Barracuda with the stock map now, but I KNOW I could get even better sound/performance with some fuel map tweakings.

Check my photo album for pics of the pipe installed.

Dan
