Anyone recommend a good tank protector for a black S3 2005?

Thanks

Mark

I've got the Triumph dark carbon one. It works well, but I added more double-sided tape all around the perimeter and the inside for better attachment.

I've got the factory CF branded 'nut' pad. Then I later added the stomp pads on the side for less leg slippage under hard acceleration/stoppie/wheelie. Finally, I was getting scratches in the top of my tank from my helmet and various other stuff I'd set on it when the bike wasn't moving so I made myself a tank cover from aluminum diamond plate (used ds 3m tape).

Hey, kuhlka

I'm strangely attracted to your top-of-tank solution, but I'm surprised you used Aluminum. You can buy rubber adhesive sheets with a diamond plate pattern through industrial safety suppliers.

Now I'm having baaaaaad ideas. Probably not a tank top, but knee protectors?

I bought the Triumph branded carbon fiber one from my dealer. I opted not to use the double sided tape it came with. Instead, I took it to an automotive upholstery shop and had them back the CF sheet with some auto carpeting. Then, I picked up some 3M adhesive backed velcro strips. The hook half adheres nicely to the auto carpeting, so I stuck it where I needed it in order to hold down the CF pad, peeled off the adhesive covering, and stuck it down on the tank where I want it. It's really secure and removable for washing, not to mention, the carpet backing prevents the sharp edges of the CF from scratching the tank.
