The new S3 has kind of a rumbling, bearing, clearance type sound from the gearbox in neutral. Not really loud but noticeable. Goes away when the clutch is pulled in. The box works great and I can't hear anything out of the ordinary at speed. Have any of you guys noticed the same thing?

I haven't noticed that. Where do you get your bike serviced? The Euro Shop in Waco is awsome, through might be a trip for you.

No service yet, the bike only has about 300 miles on it. I'll ask the guys at British USA in Houston to give it a listen. Thanks.

I've noticed my bike does the same thing when in neutral. I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm going in for service this week and am planning to ask the dealer about it.

My bike does the same thing in neutral...I think its nothing unusual cause my Hornet did the same thing and was still in very good condition when I sold her with 30.000 km.

Mine (600 mi '06) has that same noise in neutral. I figured it was normal- can you let us know what the dealer says?

If you are still running your break in oil that might be part of it. The break in oil is pretty thin, and when you put some good high-viscosity synthetic in it a lot of noise may quiet down.
