Ditto . This is normal operation. When cold it is less noticable. when hot it rattles teeth. No one has had a failure due to the clunk. It is a "characteristic".
sounds normal to me also. clunky when cold, buttery in higher gears and when warm. Motul 7100 seemed to help slightly, but it still lets me know we're not ready to ride yet with athority. so i always wait for the 4th temp bar before i ship-out.
My Honda does it and all my previous bikes have clunked the 1st gear, even my vintage. However when I changed the sprockets and chain of my Triple Thunderbird it immediately stopped, now it's a very pleasant click, I'm not sure it's because of the tighter drive or chain tension or more than likely just a coincidence. I'm still using the same Triumph recommended brand engine oil. Certainly low engine revs reduces it in my Honda.
