Took an '04 Tuono out for a 50 mile thrashing yesterday, and loved it. I have a deposit down on an '06 S3, but the dealer has been telling me it will arrive any day for the last two weeks.

I can get the Tuono for just a bit more than the S3, and am impressed with all the extras that come stock on the Tuono (Steering damper, windscreen, belly pan, crash bungs, steel braided lines, Showa, Penske, Brembo).

I have searched the Aprilia Forum, and this one. They all say go Tuono, and you all say go S3. Has anyone ridden both, and have some good objective comparisons?

I have yet to see a new ('05-'06) S3 in person, much less ridden one. I prefer the looks of the S3, but can't get away from the stock kit on the Tuono. I know that if I pull the trigger on the Tuono without riding the S3, I will regret it for as long as I own, but if I wait (2months?) the Tuono will likely be gone.

Help save me from myself!

I read in a recent UK magazine where they put the S3, Super Duke, Kawasaki and the Tuono through rigorous tests. The Tuono came in last in every single "event". That Tuono has been there for months and I actually looked at the same one you are. Don't be fooled by a forum. Read article after article this past year. The S3 has beaten the best and you will indeed regret it if you give that shop in SLC $$$. Waiting on the dealership is hard I know! If you need to ride one, PM me and I will meet up with you. I am in Salt Lake riding all the time.

Mad Mac I sent you an email. Personally I think you may be waiting for more than a month for the 06 S3. So if you want to ride now id try to talk the Touno down a little. You shouldnt be too dissapointed with either bike. Ive always liked the Falco better as far as aprilias go. You can still find leftovers for much less than a S3. That my 2 cents.

I cannot and will not change your taste  But I rode 3 RSV Milles before my S3 05 and I find the engine of the S3 much more smoother with gives you much more relaxed driving.
The looks of the the S3 are more beautiful to me than the Tuono, that's why I chose a Triumph. For me the S3 is a real naked bike and the Tuono has to much plastic next to the engine. But the Tuono will feel stronger, I guess.

Good luck making the right choise

take Manipulated up on his offer mate.

there arent many bad bikes out there and the tuono is a mad twin.

i didnt go for one because i just dont like the look (that chucked on front fairing is horrible).

for me you have to be able to get off the bike, look at it and think THATS MINE, I DONT BELIEVE THATS MINE
