Sunday, laid bike down in the canyons. I picked the bike up immediately; I have more damage on me than the bike. I have a broken clutch lever, so I couldn't restart.
It's at a friends house, I need to get it over to a shop for a once over. Should I start? Tow?
Thanks!

Luckily you are OK ! How did it happen ? Low or high sided ?
There is totally nothing wrong with falling down. As long as you learn from your mistakes you'll be a better rider the next time you get on that bike.
Remember, there are only 2 types of riders. The ones who already fell down, and the one who are going to.

I've always though that line should be there are three types. Those who've fallen, those who will fall, and those who will fall...AGAIN!

Based on the limited damage, my guess would be a lowside or a tipover. Highsides tend to be a bit more of a *****.

Good thing you're ok! The bike will survive. I'm glad I took most of my learning chews in the dirt. I still got srapes and bruises, but could almost always get back on. Don't ride over your head, and you'll be ok.

Ernest,
Sorry to hear about your accident............... We (or at least most us I would guess) have been down at one time or another. For me it has been one time and another. The bike can always be repaired or replaced if need be but we can't!!!! I hope your ok buddy!!!!!!
I would suggest putting it in the back of a pickup and hauling it in for repairs. That's what I have done in the past with my mishaps, even though on one occasion I probably could have ridden the bike to the shop. No need to damage anything further if it can be avoided.
Let us know how your doing...............also, once you get her in the shop let us know what the damage total is.
Take Care and hope your on the road again soon.
Ken

I came in on the turn and saw debris. It was a low side. I've got bruises on my shoulder, elbow and have a swollen hand.
The bike has a scrape on the engine casing, lower side on the left. Again, a busted clutch lever.
It's going to be about 100 miles to get it to the shop, that's a heck of a tow service! Someone suggested I pull the boots off the plugs and fire it up, then plug them back in to turn the engine. If nothing is knocking, I'm good to go. Let me know if I'm totally off my rocker in riding it back.
Otherwise, I'm okay. I thought I was riding within my zone - guess not...

sorry to hear about your get-off and glad to hear there is limited personal and property injury.
some earlier triumph triples were know to push oil into a cylinder if the bike was down on the left side with engine running. starting in this case could result in hydrolock and possible engine damage.
if you're determined to ride the bike it might be prudent to check the airbox for oil and pull the plugs and spin the engine by turning the rear wheel to check for oil in cylinders. i think it would be the left.
'course i'm not a mechanic or anything near. just passing a little information that might or might not be appropriate to the '05's.
like ken, my gut would be to load in a pickup or a small trailer for trip to shop.

Don't you know somebody with a truck or at least a trailer hitch? Where is the bike now? I'd hate to pay for a 100 mile tow! Sorry to hear about your low side however excellent news that damage to you and bike is minor.

I would really try to find someone with a truck/trailer that could haul it for you. I might know someone in your area (Corona) thats has a pick-up. Not sure if he still has it, but if he does I know he would let me borrow it and go get your bike for ya. But you would have to wait until the weekend to do it as I am in the SFV and would have to ride out to Corona first.
Wish I could help more Ernest................but do what you can to haul it rather then ride it.............
