Has anyone found a decent hugger for the '05 speed trip? My dealer says the triumph one will not be out till later in august. As far as I can find out it will be made of nasty black plastic and will not extend below the top edge of the swing arm in order to protect the bottom of the suspension linkage!

There is a UK firm called NWS ( http://www.n-w-s.com ) who make beautiful carbon fibre huggers, and I have had one on 2 of my previous bikes. They are of top quality and fit perfectly with great fittings and instructions. They extend below the swing arm slightly, so would protect the sus linkage nicely.

........only problem is they don't do one for the '05 Speed Trip! .....Yet!

I rode down to their work shops last week to see if the one for the new Sprint ST would fit, but no it doesn't. The guy said he wasn't planning to do one for the '05 S3 at the moment as there had been no interest. So if you want a great hugger that will protect more of the stuff that the triumph one doesn't then e-mail these guys and tell them you want one!

Whats my motive? No I don't work for the guy, I just think it's so good and looks so great that I cant bare to think that I'll have to put up with a naff plastic one from Triumph. I won't get one unless you guys can help me persuade them to make it!

Check out their site and mail them them!

i emailed them in hopes of a carb fiber hugger. i put the triumph one on my 0-1 s3 and it was so ugly, i tore it off and threw it away. also it was melting down on my underseat exhaust. i want everything lst class on this ride. as usual, i intend to keep this one forever. in somewhat related issue, has anyone w me noticed annoying steam coming of the oil cooler when riding in the rain? and one last question, is this forum originated and maintained by triumph along w the rat organization?

You know, as far as I can see, the attachment points on the 05 model, are exactly the same as my 98 model. Perhaps I am wrong, and maybe I haven't looked closely enough, but if I am right, the very nice hugger from Triumph I fitted on my 98 model, will fit tmy new 05 model. Maybe someone can enlighten me, because I am not hearing many good things about the new 05 hugger. I would rather stick with something tried and tested, then something new that I know nothing about. tell me what you guys think, I am alway open to ideas and suggetions.

I seem to remember reading somewhere here that the stock Triumph hugger was recalled due to it not being able to withstand the heat from the exhaust pipes, so i wouldn't trust the hugger from your '98 for it either. I've plunked down the cash for the carbon fibre model from Jack Lilley... I just need to wait for them to ship it across the pond...

Know what I would like? A rear hugger that was out where it could stop rain spray from shooting up your back after you had removed that nasty looking fender/reflector stinger thing.

Something that just floated out in the right spot to block the spray. Would look strange, but could be cool if done right, and would be functional too. I don't like the stock rear fender, but I don't really want spray up my back either...
