Other Motorcycle: 97 Bandit 600. Sold & missed.
On my 05S3 I managed to reach 249Kmh (155.625Mph) on the speedometer.
Don't have the gps installed yet so I can't be really sure of the real speed!

My 03S3 crawls up to 150 with a nice tuck and the stock gearing. Since going down 1 tooth in the front and up 3 in the back it gets to 140 a lot faster.

Just a quick note about GPS use. Give your device a few moments to "catch up " to your speed. just hold a steady say 100 mph and give the GPS time to update. I've found my speedo off by 5 mph. I used a Garmin E-Map.
I once wound it out in top gear and saw an indicated 145 mph, realising I had a little more throttle I pinned it. but was too busy concentrating on the road to see the speedo. I guess I hit 150 mph. :hammer:

Fastest I ever took my striple was about the buck fiddy mark:
A big hairy dude on a cruiser doing 100+ cut me and my friend [ZX9R] off on an on-ramp to the 5N [big Socal freeway] one Thursday night on the way home from the bar. Being rambunctious youths on sportbikes, we couldn't let a cruiser get away w/ that [though we should have]. We smashed on him, and the last time I looked down at the gauge it read about 145mph, and I was still accelerating. I looked back to see no hariy cruiser in sight, but low and behold my friend on the kawi is pulling over to the shoulder w/ sirens behind him! Long story short, we were polite and explained our story remorsefully, and they let us off! Nice SDPD ociffers, but I guess they figured we could've kept going and they wouldn't have caught us anyhow.

Anyone know what the exact margin of error on a '00 gen S3 speedo is? T.I.A.

My top speed so far is only 130 mph…in the pouring rain! I took the bike out to the local track and the rain was thick as pea soup. Hydroplaning at that speed sure was unsettling. The bike’s cornering was excellent and I had no problem keeping up with, or in most cases passing any of the Jap race replicas. Lot’s of guys crashed that day (know body injured) Blipping the throttle while downshifting was essential to keeping your rear tire behind you. 150 mph you say? I believe it! Can’t wait for a dry track day! :-D

I "only" squeezed out 244km/h on mine, and this already without the mirrors... Tried it over and over again, both directions on the same flat road...

Got mine up to 149mph behind a friends VFR800 and was catching him. Of course he was not flat out even though he was tucked behind the fairing and yes I was hiding behind my flyscreen. If were not for the A19 Easingwold roundabout I would have passed him and topped 150+.
:wow:
