Nope, you're not crazy. It isn't on the S3, at least not mine. The confusion may come from the fact that "miles left" is a feature on the new Sprint.

Yeah, would have been a handy feature!
I find it ironic that the most useful possibility, miles left, was not included compared to things like the rather redundant miles travelled (i mean isnt that one covered in the two trip meters already?)
I am a little annoyed cause I ran out of gas the other day, and that never happened to me before on any bike ever! I dont think I got more than 25 kms after the fuel light. Why is there no reserve tank? :???:

I read a review in the US about the S3 where they claimed the fuel light came on with 2 gallons left in the tank!
If you believe that you will run out of fuel!
When the fuel light comes on get fuel as you don't have many miles left before running out. I did believe and I did run out!!
Think there is confusion on tankage size between S3 and Sprint.

I was told “miles remaining” was a feature for the 05 S3 when I purchased the bike. I was rather disappointed not to actually have it. How many trip meters can a person use anyway?
How come the guy from France speaks better English than the Texan? Oh… never mind.

I've found that on average I have about 1.5 gallons left when my fuel light comes on. Highway riding that gives me about 60 miles at 40 MPG till I run out of gas...and yet I've still done it twice.

Most bikes don't really have a "reserve" tank. They merely have a petcock that drains fuel to a certain level before you have to turn it to drain the remaining fuel. If you aren't paying attention to the miles you've traveled your attention is gained by the bike running as if it is out of fuel. Triumph has simply chosen to get your attention with a light instead of making the bike seem out of fuel when it isn't. Try putting in fuel shortly after the light goes on and subtract how much it takes from the tank capacity. That should give you a pretty good idea of how much fuel you have left when your light goes on. Mine goes on pretty consistently with 1 gallon remaining.

Yeah, my old bike had that reseve valve, it really makes you want to go get gas cause it scares u into it when you are driving on the highway and your bike starts to choke and you need to reach down and try to turn it on without stopping).

I find the yellow light too gentle a reminder (at least until I found out that it means GO GET GAS SOON! ) Maybe it should have been a little pop up rotating, flashing amber lamp!
