What's up with the humps?

I've noticed that the 01-04 995i's have variations in their humps. My Roulette Green 03 has a fairly low hump, but some bikes that look like the same year have higher humps. I think I have hump envy.

Were different size humps available at the time?

I've seen two different sizes as well. I have the higher (humpier?) one and personally think that it looks better aesthetically. Plus, it adds ~8hp over the lower one.

If you really can't control your envy, they come up on ebay quite a bit, although usually in black. Ebay UK usually has some floating around as well.

Yeah,

I like the higher one better as well. I've having a belly pan painted up, so I thought now might be a time to get a bigger hump. I could use that extra hp as well

It's just strange to me that there exists two different sizes, with no apparent explanation.

Gene-O, In '04 the D955i underwent a styling change that included a totally useless low profile windscreen. The cowl was redesigned also, maybe to mimic the windscreen's shape. Triumph may've cut some costs and started putting the low profile design on whatever it'd fit on...

I like the high hump better too

I wonder if anyone would trade the high-hump for a low-hump?
