How do folks connect up their accumates

Hi all,
Just Got my 05 model Speedie and was wondering how do folks connect up their trickle chargers, on the sprint it was easy just plug and go. I was wondering if people just lifted the seat and connected st to the battery each time or routed the cable out somewhere or even if they installed a socket somehere on the bike.
I was thinking that I'd route the cable out from under the seat somewhere or possibly fit a socket.
Just wanted other peoples ideas so I could get it right first time.

Thanks Jeff.

I use have the wired connection with the plug on the end that came with my optimate, this has a splash cover over then end, then just take the seat off and connect when needed.

Though I find I only need it over winter, if you need it in the summer then you need a new battery or to get your arse out on the bike more often

Though watch the fuse holder, I found it had come a little unscrewed and when starting the bike it could "trip" the whole system with a click and go dead, turn it off wait a few then on again and all would be well but worried the hell out of me for a while (also lost the top speed in the ECU... grrrr )

Don't worry Jaz come the good weather my arse will be on the bike lots.
Its just that I normally kept the sprint plugged into the acumate all the time it was in the garage and was thinking I'd do the same with the speedie and was hoping not to have to keep lifting the seat.
I;ll see what other ideas people come up with here.

Just run the pigtail from the battery out under the seat somewhere, and ziptie it to the frame. That way you can connect it when you park without removing the seat.

If you don't have one, you can get the accessory direct from accumate - http://www.accumate.com/612/a_weather.php
I have mine coming forward from the battery and coming out on left side just above sprocket cover - little more unobtrusive there

Thanks will check out availability in the uk.
All I had was the standard lead that has the croc clips on it. I've chopped these off and fitted eyelet crimps so I can connect up at the moment but the weather proof one has to be the way to go.

Picture worth a thousand words they say!

I have the Optimate 4 & Battery Tender models, both of which use the SAE connector (as opposed to the Accumate type) which you see in the pics.

You could of course bring it out on the clutch cover (right) side if that is more convenient for your own garage parking circumstances.

Hi,
That routing and installation looks neat and tidy, may well do something similar. Just looking on the accumate site and I found this.
http://accumate.co.uk/it020002.htm
Something similar to what I had on the Sprint.
Anybody tried hooking this up on a bracket and mounted somewhere un obtrusive.

Jeff
