07 wont stay running

I need some help,

2 days ago I went to start my bike and it started fine but was running at a lower idle speed than normal and it was idling rough. I gave it a little gas to up the rev's hoping it would then idle at the higher correct idle. After I did that the bike died, wouldnt start and there was a strong gas smell. That night I pulled the spark plugs and cleaned them off as they were fouled.

I thought all was well.

20 minutes ago I go to start the bike, starts up fine for 3 to 5 seconds and then dies. Smell of gasoline there but not as strong as 2 days ago.

Where do I go from here? Warranty is current until August so should I take it in and tell them to fix it, or is it something I should do?

I don't think it would affect anything but I did install a k&n filter, Comp Werkes exhaust. It ran fine the couple times I had it out riding before it started acting up 2 days ago.

As always thanks for the input.

To be honest I would have thought you would need a new map for the exhaust,Get a Tuneboy and download a tune from here ftp://67.223.236.218/Tunes/DVS/Low%20Mount/

Then get to a dyno shop to get it `fine` tuned to your bike.........Problem solved ,Maybe i should have mentioned that I`m classed as insane and subject to having electric shock therapy,So it might be wise to join the rest of the planet in ignoring me ,Hope you get it sorted quickly and cheaply

No, had it in a heated garage from early November until end of February. Rode it 5 times after that and it ran fine up until 2 days ago.

I had a similar problem...with 2 causes:

I think there's an idle adjustment under the tank. We increased the idle timing and it solved that problem, but when we reseated the tank one of the hoses got pinched. When I'd start the bike it smelled like gas and would die in about 30 seconds. Also it would make a sucking sound when I opened the tank...another indication of a pinched hose.

Hope that helps?

Called the shop and they said with the problem I described I should put hotter plugs in (cr8ek) and it should solve the problem.

I have some coming tomorrow so we shall see.

The tech said with it being cold the ECU puts too much gas in the cylinder and it fouls the plugs because the CR9EK's don't run hot enough.

I find it odd how it just started doing it but ran fine 2 years in a row when I rode in colder weather.

I will post the results tomorrow.

I was under the impression that the idle speed had to be adjusted within the ECU as opposed to an external adjustment such as a screw.

that sounds like a crutch for a failed part. Has it ever backfired ?
