Plug change revealed this!

Bought my 07 Speed Triple back in October with about 4700 miles on it. It now has 6600 and I figured I would do a little preventive maintanence. I pulled these three plugs from it in order. Cylinder 1 thru 3. The treads are fine and they came out fine but the two outside cylinder plugs have corrosion on them. Boots were fine, actually like new. Not sure what could have happened. Anyone else run across this? It's a bit baffling.

Not common - virtually universal!

See this thread - http://www.triumphrat.net/speed-trip...lugs-pics.html

In '07 Triumph introduced a better coil seal which helps with the control of water ingress - so it depends on your manufacture date whether those are already on your bike.

Regardless, anti-seize on the threads and liberal coating of dielectric grease on the plugs is a good idea.

Thanks for info... I did make sure the threads were lubed up and use dielectric goop too.

checked the thread and looked at the comparison of the boots. I have the new boots if the one on the left is the updated version.

Another update.. I was wrong. I have the older style. I got the part number off the other thread and will order them. Thanks again.

Another update.. Order the seals.

Thanks

Just finished spring maintenance. Last year I updated to the new style coil boots, dielectric greased the hell out of everything, etc.

The new coil boots are not a 100% fix. Found corrosion on cylinder 1 and 3. Cyl. 2 was pretty good. I would recommend changing (or pulling and cleaning) plugs EVERY year (if you store winters) or every 3 months if your bike sits outside in the rain.

Seems excessive, but Ive lost a head to corroded spark plug threads before. It sucks.
