gixxer brake mod complete

First of I should thank Bohdan for his very informative write up.
$64 shipped bought some very very low mileage brakes off a 07 750.. thanks ebay!

Ordered some new pads from galfer and upon installing the new pads I found out how low miles were on the donar brakes. This is a pic of the new pads next to the ones in the caliper... damnit they are brand new and sintered to boot oh well..

Finished product!

GSXR stock brakes are rubbish.

Do the same mod, follow the same routine, but use R1 calipers and master cylinder (which is a low-spec Brembo). You'll just need spacers on the caliper mount to clear the rotor.

rubbish? compared to what? I have recently put r1 calipers on my 05 forked gsxr 750 and can honestly say felt no improvement.

They generally benefit greatly from a set of braided lines, if you wanted to go down that road.

for street riding, both are more than adequate, and are both way better than Triumph stockers.

in racing and track day circles, many replace GSXR stockers for R1 calipers for "better feel" brakes, not necessarily stopping power.

That said I went with R1 calipers and MC for my Speedy just based on looks, gold inserts are looking much better with my gold forks than plain tokico stockers from suzuki.

Compared to R1 calipers.

Yes, honestly there's little difference for street riding. But GSXRs are notorious for having bad brakes, so why go with that when you can go with a setup that is notorious for being better? Its a common mod for GSXR riders to do as well.

I have never heard that gsxr's have bad brakes. A lot of the hype is from the little B emblem on the yamaha stuff. Im not gonna lie, the brembos on my s3 are incredible. Braided lines and aggressive pads do make BIG differences.
