assembling speed triple headlights, and locating indicators

Hi guys,

I just received my big box of bits from Triumph, as I'm converting my Daytona 955i to a Speed Triple

Firslty, I'm having trouble with the headlights/bowls. It seems silly, but I can't seem to fix the headlight into the bowl. It just falls out. I've got no idea what I'm doing wrong. I don't think I'm missing any parts. I have the chrome bowl, the inner ring, the headlight and the outer chrome ring.

Can anybody shed some light on what I'm doing wrong?

Also, where do the front indicators mount to on the 955? I thought it was the engine mount behind the radiator, but it seems like you wouldn't see the indicator behind the radiator. I can't see any other logical positions for it.

Thanks guys,

Mat

The inner ring has some cut-outs in those that the locating pegs on the headlight slot into - you need to find the right orientation to have it fit together; each of the pegs on the light have a smaller width part that goes into the slot and a wider width section that presses against the face of the ring on either side of the slot; you will find it easier to mount the ring on the light, then install into the shell together; then the outer ring goes over the light and the shell together and when tightened up clamps everything together.

Front indicators actually screw into a bracket that bolts to the radiator itself, which has threaded inserts in the back of side tank - the Daytona rad has no provision for that.
So you will have to come up with an alternative mounting arrangement.

I still can't get it to work

I locate the light on the ring, and the ring clicks into the chrome bowls, and if I put the outer chrome ring on, the headlight just falls out of the inner ring.

Does it fall forwards and out of the bowl, or backwards into the bowl?

Do you have the OEM lamps? Sounds like you may have something different.
Are you trying to use auto stuff?

Yeah, it's all OEM stuff... I ordered the complete kit from Triumph.

The headlights fall outwards.

You have the chrome right the right way around, right? They are not symmetric - one side is deeper than the other.

The outer ring. That is the only piece holding the headlight together.

Is the screw through the outer chrome ring supposed to be at the bottom?
