Ride height / chain adjustment

Ive searchd the forum and cant find much on this. ive ownd a triumph before and am used to the 'quirks' but it seems odd that everytime i tightn my chain i also change my rear height. I completly understand why this happens with the single sided arm and eccentric adjustment, but wow. i adjusted my chain and the bike went up over a inch. Preload adjustments to change ride height defeats the reason for haven a bike for its handling. I was tired of draggn parts on my gsxr with it lowerd 4 inch and stretchd 15 so i pickg up this 01 s3 to play with on deals gap trips n such. Is there anyway without makin adjustable dogbones ( withch we do make at my friends shop )to adjust the chain and not screw with my ride height? Im 6'3 and its not that i cant reach the ground but me and my wife share all our bikes and she didnt like it that hight in the rear either. I ride fairly hard and get used to a bike setup and dont like to change what works. but i need to adjust my chain alot.

Honestly man, I have no idea why your ride height would change by tightening your chain. Are you making sure you have the recommended slack? Too tight will cause the chain to break. The owner's manual states the proper slop and always make sure you clean and lube the chain before you adjust it. Also, find the tightest point in the chain and make the adjustment from that point.

Taking all of the preload out of the rear spring may make it feel like it's lower, but you are mainly just increasing the sag of the bike. It will sit lower when you're on it, but you have no crippled the rear suspension. Never a good idea for a bike that is designed to handle well. There is an alternative, though.

Ebay has a lot of options for changing ride height. You can't use "Dogbones" on the rear shock. It's actually an aluminum plate design that replaces the stock stuff.

Sadly, the link is pricey, but it would do the trick. Here is the auction link

Yea i have enough chain slack, it is time for a new chain, but that dosent change the fact that when the chain is tightnd the ride height is changd. I can make adjustable dogbones, i have them on my gsxr and r6. usually under a 100 in parts n time and they look n work great. the chain adjuster in my older daytona 900 only changd the height 1 inch from top to bottom, not a big deal since that was over a years time, but this single sided can change the height alot. I spent 150 miles one day settn up the suspension just how i wanted it only to have to come home tightn the chain and have the rear of the bike an inch higher.
