2008 Metal Fuel Tank

Can anyone tell me if the 2008 tank fits the 2005 Speed Triple? Is it basically the same shape/size, but not plastic?
Sorry if this has been covered before.
Cheers

Shape is the same, except for the metal tank's visible (and arguably uglier) rolled seam between tank & frame. Front mounting point is different: late 07 onwards has a peg on the frame that the tank slides onto. Plastic tank bikes have a bolt. My guess is that the peg setup will fit on a pre metal tank frame.

Fuel pump plate and fuel pump is also different on later bikes. I am pretty sure these are not interchangeable. You would need all the later hardware to go with the metal tank, the outer shell is not enough.

I don't remember if the rear mounting point is exactly the same, but would guess yes, as the late 07 bikes already had metal tanks and Triumph rarely likes changing things like frame lugs.

Martin is correct.
While the front peg mount will fit on the 2005-2007 bikes, the fuel pump/level indicator connectors differ. It is not hard to change, but more work.

IMHO, the plastic tanks have a better look. And you will not have problems with the metal fuel connector... as I expect the later bikes (with plastic connector) to have in the near future - just like the older 955 bikes did.
