hello everyone,

just picked mine (05 speed triple) up and went for a ride. when i got back a puddle of coolant was under the bike. i let it cool down and checked the coolant reservoir and it looked low. it is kind of hard to tell the min. and max. mark. does anyone know how to read it right? thanks, shaun.

your not alone with that little problem.
the problem is that the overflow tube on the coolant bottle under seat is on the left (as you sit on bike) and when you put the bike on the side stand it leans to the left and the coolant spills out.
hassle your dealer cause this should have been spotted by triumph.
if enough people complain then we can get something done about it.

Thanks Celt for explaining this :upthumb:

Mine seems to spill coolant down to the Min. mark before it quits, if I remember correctly.

The markings are from left to right on my byke (And presumably yours as well) Am I supposed to lay the ***** thing down before checking?

You have two recesses in the reservoir. One deeper than the other. With the bike upright if the coolant level touches the bottom of the shallower "hole" that is the high mark. If it does not touch the bottom of the deeper "hole" the level is too low.

Well, of course. Didn't they tell you when you bought the bike :wow: :hihi:

thanks, everyone for your help.

yes, it has to be at the minimum mark not to overflow. any higher and prepare for a puddle under your bike. very stupid design. take care.

The actual amount of coolant in the expansion reservoir does not matter a bit to the performance and health of the engine. As long as there is some. the overflow and the reservoir limits just don´t match by design.

thats good to know HarriS but i for one would like to be able to fill the back up at least upto the half way mark.

if you pay £7700 for a piece of machinery then i would like it to be right.
and triumph should do something about it. i dont care if it takes them a while but as soon as they revise it i would like the revised one installed.
