I've seen some S3 pics that has the lower clip-on. Where can I get those? And how does it perform (like handling thru cornering) using the lower clip-on? I appreciated any advice. Thanks. Btw, I'm new to this site. Cool site!

Clip-ons give you a little more feedback from the front wheel, and also change your riding position to get you out of the wind a bit. They are easy to put on.

The Speed Triple has 45MM fork uppers, so you'll need to buy the correct size but most manufacturers make this size since it is very common. You can probably get a pair off the web fairly cheap.

Also, if you get sick of them changing back to bars wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Actually your 2000 S3 has 43mm fork tubes. In '02 they went to 45mm. You can find Daytona clip-ons on Ebay all the time.

I have the Triumph low bar conversion kit for the '99 (i.e pre-'02) S3 for sale. If you are interested, PM me, I live in Virginia.

beers2u,
i'm curious about the low bar conversion from Triumph. It isn't really a pair of clipons is it? It's really a low slung bar that attached to the fork clamp on the triple clamp right? I saw the listing on the accessories part of the Triumph website, but there is no photo....

No they are real clip-ons (i.e. they attach to the forks below the triple clamp). I believe they are simply Daytona clip-ons.

That being said, I can't be 100% sure they were the Triumph parts because they were on a used bike that I didn't end up buying. But the seller told me they were genuine Triumph parts for what that's worth.

I put clipons on my '02 S3. They came off a '01 Daytone (45mm). They definitely give more front end feel. I had to work a bit to get the throttle cables to route nicely. I also replaced the clutch cable and brake hose to the shorter Daytone ones. I probably could have gotten away with the old clutch cable, but I found I needed the shorter brake hose. I originally put Protek clipons on but they were so low I was basically kissing the gauge cluster when I rode. Also, if you install Daytona clipons, don't over-torque the clamps otherwise you'll find yourself running around town looking for a helicoil kit... don't ask how I know.

Here's an ebay link for Triumph clip on bars.

Exactly what I took off my '99 S3 that Beers2U passed up to get his new '04 S3. I ended up giving them to another S3 owner in exchange for his Napoleon Bar end mirrors.

I have just put some Tomaselli clip ons on my 2003 S3 - they are adjustable in terms of front/back angle and also you can raise/lower them by about 1 1/2". See pic's added on page 5 of members albums.

Blanked off the holes in the top yoke with a carbon plate from Jack Lilley for little money.

New bars feel bad in town but great for "yeeha" riding.

Unexpected bonus is that standard mirrors now give excellent rear vision to Honda standard, but they do stick out a bit. I seem to be clipping Land Rovers wing mirrors on the way to work these days. Might have to save up for some of Jack Lilley's finest, which are expensive but multi adjustable.

Only problem is the bars foul on the Road Racing fairing that I have. Also would probably touch the Triumph flyscreen. Head scratching time.
