K&N Air Filter TB-1005

I just tried to fit this K&N air filter to my 2005 S3 and found it was an absolutely appalling fit. Actually it didn't fit at all - it just wobbled on top of the airbox lip and couldn't be coaxed to seat properly. After all the effort of getting the side panels off, fiddling with tubes, a fiddly fuel line connector, a super-tight fuel gauge connector, and removing the tank only to have to stick the old filter back on ... well I wan't happy at all. Has anyone else had this problem?

Also, is it just me or is having to use the O' ring from the Triumph OE air filter cheap and nasty and an all round absolute pants idea?

Suppose you're the new owner of the bike and the Triumph air filter hasn't been changed for years and years - you're obliged to put some perished old O' ring on because K&N are too cheap to give you a new one? That sucks.

Never had a fitting problem, but I thought the o-ring was pretty cheap of K&N.

I plan to ditch it in the near future and fit a Pipercross filter.

Are you sure it actually fitted down snug? Did the screw tang on the filter sit flush on top of the plastic upright that the screw tightens into?

K&N had a large batch of bad fitting Triple filters a few years back. I guess someone is still stocking them.

BMC is much better fit, but like the K&N it doesn't really give any performance benefit over Triumph OEM.
