Greetings! Bought an S3 with no manual, so I've some questions!

Hey guys (...and girls?)

Just joined up here after picking myself up an '06 Speed Triple with about 4200 miles on it recently. Had myself a Buell Lightning and got 'the itch' and after some ointment, decided to trade my bike. Incidentally, the ointment was supplied by Triumph and it cost me $6k!

Seriously though, very fun bike, and I'm having a blast with it. However, mine didn't come with a manual, and rather than pay $50 for one, I was hoping someone might be able to answer the few questions I have about it (some of these may not be in the manual)

a) what weight oil is recommended? Is full synth recommended?
b) what screens are cycled through on the HUD? Is it Time -> current mpg -> avg mpg -> time -> trip meter -> miles to empty? -> time of trip and then back to current time? it's really just the last couple I'm curious about.
c) When the gas light comes on, how much fuel is left in the tank? 1 gallon? .75?
d) What do you all get for mileage out of a tank/average mpg? My gaslight came on, I had gone 138 miles and put in about 3.4 gallons, which equates to basically 40mpg, which seemed a little low. I was muckin' around a bit though, getting used to how fun it was.

Here's a pic of my Speed with my fiancee's new Ninja, out in Portsmouth, NH.

If your bike was white, that would be my girlfriend and me...

40 mpg is about right, there is around 1 gal left when the light comes on. Mine comes on at 130 like a clock.

I'm pretty sure you can download the OWNER'S manual for free at the Triumph site...the SERVICE manual is like $50.

Awesome! Thanks a bunch for that link, that looks like exactly what I'm after.

That's funny about the bikes.. My fiancee loves her Ninja, she just upgraded from an older one recently (aware that very little has changed engine-wise), and she LOVES it. Just loves it.

Also, I'm glad my mpg is right in-line with what you're getting.

Thanks x2 man. My local dealer wanted to charge me $91.00. For the owner's manual. Nice.

Yeah, those are truly gorgeous bikes.. love me some Daytona! My fiacee is rather short, so seat height is a real issuefor her at the point.. So out with her old 250, and in with the new! The previous owner spent like $900 on a full Yoshimura exhaust and jet kit.. 3hp gain!

10% gain, but still.. *giggles*

full synth is recommended

Time > instant MPG (very optimistic) , then all the rest are measured from last reset of the computer (holding the first two buttons together for a bit) average MPG > Total time running > Total miles > average speed > Top speed
c) When the gas light comes on, how much fuel is left in the tank? 1 gallon? .75?

sounds about right

Have fun, I know I do!
