How do I turn off the headlights on my S3-05? There must be some "secret" way to do this (press horn, brake, set-button @ same time for 4 sec or something similar). Anyone?

I agree, but there are certain times when I temporary want to turn off the headlights (track-days, photosessions etc).
So, does anyone know how to turn off the headlights on the S3 (other than remove fuse/lamps, cut cables)?

I suspect that if you cover the headlights (without turning them off) you could run the risk of overheating them.

I have been told that Triumph no longer even has switch gear for making the lights capable of being turned off. There is no "Magic Button Combination." If you want to turn them off for a Track Day then just pull the fuse. Simple, reversible, and takes seconds.

If you have another reason for wanting your lights off then you will have to do a little electrical work and install a switch somewhere. It is possible to find switch gear that has an on/off light switch that matches the factory Triumph switch gear- however you will have to take out a loan on important parts of your anatomy to afford them. Worse, the Triumph wiring harness doesn't support it so you will have to become a wiring technician anyway.

Unless you're trying to break out of a Nazi prison camp just leave your lights on.

Id prefer if the lights didnt come on until the engine was started. To save all the possible electricity for the starter. Most bikes ive owned were like this. Turn on the key and the lights stay off until after the engine is started then they come on.

Check it out: When you press the starter button your bike automatically turns off the lights. The last four bikes I've owned have done this. When you let off on the starter button the lights come back on.

The 3 to 5 seconds your lights are on before you hit the starter isn't going to drain enough from your battery to cause any problems. In any case, with a battery in good condition it shouldn't be an issue. Leave your light on for five minutes and your bike should still start.

The only bikes I've ever owned that did this had kickstarters and ignitions that didn't require a battery. The reason behind this is that the headlight drains too much energy from the ignition/charging system for the bike to start if there is a dead battery. Even if the bike does have an electric starter.

That is not a good solution, because the same fuse(8) is used for the start engine. For my track day I simply removed the lamps, I didn't find a easier solution.
