Just out of curiosity, have you been racing a lot?

I've got almost 2000 miles on my Michelins and they're no more than 1/4 worn. If you shredded them in only 2500 then I wonder what you've been doing?

I was going to ask the same thing - I've got 6k on mine, running at 34/34 and there's still a bit of tread left - I did make a long trip with quite a bit of highway, but 2500 still seems like a very short lifespan for Pilots. What pressures are you running?

Hi Boys
I run the pressures as per the book. 36/42.
I do however live in the country side and can be scratching within minutes of getting out.... I use the torque and short shift all the time. Dont use motorwayss (freeways).

I'm going to get another one fitted and see how I get on.

Well, that explains it.

Then basically you have three choices:

1) Buy the hardest, slickest, traction-less Continental brand cruiser tires you can buy and just accept that you won't be able to corner very fast.

2) Stop running the blasted thing so hard and save some tire wear.

3) Just admit that you are going to eat tires at an alarming rate and keep riding the way you have been.

It doesn't really matter what brand of tires you buy. If you can shred Michelins in 2500 miles then you will shred Pirelli's, Bridgestone's, Dunlop's, Metzlers, or any other halfway sticky tires available in the same amount of time (or less).

But at least you'll have fun doing it!

(Tire, Tyre. Who cares? We're all family here. Spell it like you know what you're doing.)

I have to say boys I bought this bike cos I needed to slow down; well its sort of worked; I dont go over 100 mph very often. Only problem is I'm doing 90 just about everywhere....

I feel your pain.

Trident: Happy at 80 mph all the time.
Speed Four: Happy at 90 mph all the time.
05 Speed Triple: Happy at 100 mph all the time.

Sigh.

Hey monkey, I envy you your RD400. Always wanted one of those.

I have an Uncle who owned one. Put 350,000 miles on the thing. That's right, three-hundred fifty thousand miles, and a large portion of them in Alaska. Yes he's a nut. He won't tell me how many pistons he put in the thing.

Cheers! :-D
