Yesterday went to the gas station to filler 'er up. went inside to pay, glanced outside, and saw gas pissing out of the bottom breather tube like a garden hose. All in all, in dumped out probably a quart of gas...

I have almost 700 miles on the bike, this had never happened before.

Called my dealer, they said I must have overfilled it (above the breather vent level)...

I filled it probably within a half inch of the top of the hole.

Thoughts?

It is fine now, hasn't leaked anymore..except when I leave it in the sun...it will leave an inch sized spot on the concrete under the hose.

thx
Jeff

Are you sure it was gas and not coolant? The 05 S3 seems to have a habit of dumping coolant when you run it hot and stop somewhere. More likely also if you have filled the coolant even a bit over the min mark.

Once it has done the initial big boilover dump it will still leave around the little drippings if the weather is hot or you have really revved the bike for a while.

Also I would not fill the tank so full that gas was coming up the filler neck.

I had this same problem. I think what happened was I filled the tank to what I thought was full while I was on the bike holding it upright. Then when it went over on the sidestand (to go pay for the gas), the gas level shifted and went out the overflow tube.. Now when I refuel I do it from the sidestand and I dont have this problem.
