First I've heard of it, but if anyone wants to Email me a VIN# I'll check it for you.

Is this just for 2005 models?

I read the recall info on the NHTSA website. It is only for 2005 models for all of the bikes listed.

Here's a link to the NHTSA site:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...ls/results.cfm

My S3 is in the range.

The link I just posted displays a blank page, unfortunately.

The VIN range is 223673 to 234916, Production Dates Dec '04 to Apr '05.

Mr Bill, thanks for trying. The Results page is generated on the fly by NHTSA's server, based on the user's query. Since no such page actually exists on the server's disk drive, the link won't work on its own.

This link will get a person to the search page, in case anyone wants to check for future notices.

(I did just the default search for the past 10 days. There have been a ton of recalls! As of the time of my search, the first was Yamaha, who have 46,000 bikes on which the passenger seat could fall off! By comparison, 900-some hoses capable of de-laminating doesn't look so bad.)

Yep, I am one of the lucky ones again. So let's see, during my few months of S3 ownership I have had:
-a malfunctioning display cluster (still waiting for the new one)
-a stuck tipover valve on the breather hose causing vacuum
-a malfunctioning oil pressure sensor
-a leaking head gasket (to be replaced this coming winter)
-and now a coolant hose recall

Seems like the bike is spending more time in the shop than on the road.

HD Center in Helsinki spent four hours to replace the shocks on my friends Bonneville America. That is a whopping one hour per nut. :-D Talk about efficiency. It was a recall.

That's the problem with buying the 1st model year of a bike . . YOU'RE the one who has to work out all the kinks . .lol.
