Hiya Skyman!...Much the same as you. Between 130 -140 miles then i get the light on. According to the good book- when the fuel light comes on there will be approximately 4.0 Litres of fuel remaining. You guys who are getting low fuel mileage, have you altered the gearing in anyway, or using a lower grade fuel? (Unleaded 95 octane or higher is Triumphs recommended grade). I can't belive there's such a difference in economy (or lack of). Unless it's due to the way the engine has been run in?..... I read in a magazine article some time ago of a tank range of 160 miles which must include the reserve....... :hammer:

Depending on how I ride I get between 135 to 155 per tank before the light comes on. Each time it needs 3.4 gallons to fill the tank.

the older bikes seem better on the economy front than the new 05 triple.

i will try a full tank at a medium pace and see what i get before the light comes on.

Remember that your fuel economy will increase as you gain more miles on the bike.

With 6k now, I am getting a consistent 130-160 before the light comes on - depending on how hard I am pushing her.

My 01 has 13K miles and with 60% freeway commuting and the rest backroad fun I easily hit 150 miles before the fuel light glows. My last tank saw 163 miles. FWIW, in the interest of keeping my drivers licence the bike rarely sees > 7500 RPM.

Don't trust the reserve light. I've had 2 S3's now (an '03 and '05) and in both cases, the low fuel light came on way too early.. about half a tank. There are some tricks you can do to modify the sensing unit, but it's hardly worth the effort. I find the '05 particularly annoying because of the smaller tank. Sadly, the dealer doesn't consider this a warranty item.
