Hi everyone,

Just got my new Speed Triple today, the computer was set to metric kms and liters and I took it out for 100 kms or so.

Later I was playing around with the buttons on the trip computer and somehow it reset to miles and gallons and 0 miles on the odometer. What the hell?

Now I can't get it back to kms and the manual is useless.
Is this a bug or something, the odometer should never reset!

Any ideas?

This is especially annoying considering I was carefully following the break in procedure and now I dont know where I am.

This one sentence both asks and answers your own question.

Sorry to hear of this problem, but if the full odometer (and not just the trip computation odometer) has reset to zero, then it is a defective instrument and will need to be replaced under warranty. Consult your dealer.

Yeah, thats what I figured, I will call them as soon as they open.
Thanks for the input... I guess there isnt a way to switch from kms to miles then, and back again?

There is; hold down all three buttons with the ignition on, but engine not running. Then you can select km, miles & UK gallons or miles & US gallons.

There was a thread in here about it a while back.

arg, more problems

since the first day (i am at about 500 kms now) after the mileage reset, things were working okay, the clock kept resetting to 1 oclock, but i imagined that it was just me fooling with the trip counters or something. yesterday i set it carefully and this morning it was reset again. fine then, but today after work i go out and the trip meter doesnt work anymore nor the tach. ***?

the turn indicators work, as does the oil light and backlight for the screen, but the screen is totally blank, it was a pretty hot day and parked in the sun but hey, this isnt a good start with 500 clicks on the counter (i think since i cant tell anymore)

so i guess i will take it to the shop

hatchet,

I would take it in and demand they replace the whole unit..............those issues are not normal by any means and it's a brand new bike. i think I've read in here where someone had there's replaced on thier '05 S3 under warranty not too long ago.

Good luck - and be demanding about getting a new one.......... :hammer: - don't let the dealer try and tell you the original can be fixed!!!!!

Mine exhibited the same problem.
My dealership has ordered a new instrument cluster, and Triumph will be replacing the unit under warranty later this week.

Talk to your dealership... it shouldn't be a problem getting yours replaced.

Hey it seems my problem was a fuse thing. I pulled fuse 4 and swapped it with another 10A from the high low beam slot next to it. Now everything works, its strange because the fuse is intact, perhaps just a bad contact or corrosion or something.

My clock still resets all the time but the odometer is normal.
the shop said if water gets in the instrument panel that you can experience short circuits that give similar results.

that sucks cause i plan to be driving in the rain whenever it is raining. i am gonna double check all my gaskets.

I had this problem, the display would randomly reset while I was driving and sometimes on startup it stopped showing any revs or speed info.

Triumph replaced my whole display unit on warranty and it seems to work well now.

Also when the dealer checked the old display out his dealer game boy always came up with an error code when the display was hooked on to the bike.
