New engine

So it appears that I have destroyed the engine in my 97 T509.

I have spent several hours searching the net for a salvage engine and have several requests out there for help finding one. Does anyone here have any thoughts on where to find one?

Perhaps even better does the 1050 engine fit the T509 frame?

What other engines would be a good fit if I decide to street fighter the bike?

The engine fits the frame but the FI system and electronics are completely different.
Stick with a 97-01 motor for a relatively simple swap.

The bolt points on the 1050 are the same as the T509 frame?

I was planning on breaking the bike down this winter and rebuilding the engine, powder coating the frame, new wiring harness, ect. Just not sure if it is worth doing now that the engine is toast.

You will need a lot of parts -
engine, complete with TB's and injector rail, airbox, headers, exhaust, complete wiring harness, ECM, instruments - and maybe some other misc bits but that 'big' stuff should give some idea of the scope required.

You're also looking at same list of parts for an 02+ motor.

Even if you get a 99-01 955 engine, your headers will not fit - you would probably require a tuneboy also as the tune will be different for teh bigger engine and there is no suitable tune for a Sagem MC2000 ECM that will just 'plug in'

Here's a low miles Sprint engine - see the note regarding the tune. Otherwise you need 99-01 wiring harness and MC1000 ECM.
