Unhappy speed tripple backfire

hi to all..... have '86 speed tripple,hope someone can point me in the right direction?went to start it last night and first try it tried to fire secound try it produced an almighty backfire, and now will only turn over..... not even try to fire..... any ideas where to look would be extreemly helpful...........

You have a '96 maybe? Was the battery weak? How long did you crank? Sounds like it could be the sprag, but that's not a whole lot of info to work with...

no very good battery,,, did,not crank it for long,as it made no attempt to fire up. have checked battery and made sure it is fully charged,[battery charger] still cranks over normaly, just dead in the water,so to speak.... not even a pop out of it!!!!!!DAMN IM DUMB '06 MODEL NAKED.... SORRY ALL...

I just had this happened to me and the culprit was bad fuel. I had to replace the spark plugs and get the bad fuel out of the bike...after that I had no problems and things are back to normal.
