Has anyone installed this filter on their SP3, any noticeable gain in horsepower, acceleration or sound ? I have the Triumph carbon hi mount exhaust.

I put one in mine. I didn't notice any increase in sound and I didn't have the bike dyno'd before and after, but like all other vehicles where I have installed a KN, the seat-of-the-pants improvement was quite noticable. Even more-so on the Triple! The bike really did run stronger after puttin in the KN. So, I'd say it's definately worth putting one in. Its too bad that it's such a bugger to get to it and install it.

Cheers,
dp

I currently have an 03 Speed 3 which I'm ordering one as soon as I can get a decent price on it. So far it looks like I'll be spending around 65.00 or so but from what others have wrote it's quite worth it. I've used K&N filters in all my other bikes and it definately makes a difference but from the install on this injected bike it's going to be a bugger especially removing the fuel line connectors. Definately a good time to replace the plastic ones with some metal ones.

Anyone considering a K&N should first read the Motor oil bible or some info from it on the net. In a nutshell, it states that you do get better airflow but at the expense of actual filtering.

What does it say about motorcycle-specific oil? Just curious...but not enough to spend $10 bucks.

The dirtier your K&N gets the better it filters.
