..................Not sure if its the color of the bike or what, but this morning my beautiful Red Triple got hit for the second time in six months!!!!!!!! Last time was someone coming out of a side street without looking and turned right in front of me whereby I ended up laying the bike down and sliding it under their car........................otherwise I would have most likely ended up slamming the drivers door and flying over the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got over that incident, healed up my wrist, got the bike repaired properly (finally) and moved on.......................

Then, this morning, while "stopped" (yes i was actually f'g stopped when I got hit!!!!) at a red light prior to making a right turn, the car behind me decided not to stop and tagged me in the rear.....DAM CARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The car bounced off the rear tire and slid up the left side of the bike up to my leg............I was able to keep the rubber side down this time (barely) and didn't drop the bike, but what in the hell is going on!!!! I have been riding for over 20 years and but for one major freeway accident 11 yrs ago (caused again by another DAM CAR!!!!!), I have had close calls, but no accidents. I pick up my new 2004 Speed Triple last September.................BOOM two accidents in six months caused by careless drivers!!!!!

Neither accident caused barely any damage to the other vehicles that caused the accidents, but for some reason my new bike (and me) is the one that has to suffer!!!!!!!!!! I am gonna start carrying a baseball bat so I can even the score next time (hopefuly there won't be a next time....but the way things are going ya never know).

Anyways, just wanted to vent and this forum has always been there for me, so I figured what better place to let it out. Not too much damage to the bike thankfully: the chain guard did explode into a million pieces, the left rear hub cover is scratched up but I am mostly concerned about the rear wheel since that is where the car hit first. I need to have it checked out to make sure it is not bent. It Was quite a jolt!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for listening.......................and watch your backs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ken

*****, that sucks. Glad you're OK.

I know it's a low probability (according to the Hurt report at least), but I always keep an eye on the mirrors at a light and flash the brake light until someone's safely stopped behind me. I don't know if that makes me much more visible or not, but it's worth a chance.

By the way, I love the LED light on the '05s. Much brighter than the old bulbs. I don't know if there's an aftermarket kit available for the previous models, but it'd be worth looking into.

your rant is fully justified.

here in the UK alot of riders would like to see car drivers have to go through mandatory bike lessons so they could experience first hand what its like to have 1000's of car drivers daydreaming wherever they drive.

using mobile phones while driving gets my goat up

Couldn't agree more about the cell phones................in fact the lady that hit me this morning was on the dang phone when she hit me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ride every day and most of the cars that are weaving, or turning without looking or stopping late always seem to be the ones with the drivers on the DAM phone.

I don't understand why most people can't drive and talk at the same fricken time.........................when you have a passanger in the car you talk to them!!!! If you can't handle it get a f'g ear piece, although I have even seen people with ear pieces in still drive like they are the only ones on the road!!!!!!!

Thanks for the input guys, ............................

Ken,

Glad you're OK. Parts on bikes are easy to replace... Parts on people are not. Just remember, things could have been worse!

Glad your OK. Same happened to me a few years ago. Stood at lights on Red when a bus ran into me; threw my passenger over the top of me and onto the road in front. Some shock; the CB900 was not too bad either the front of the bus was fu..ed; made out of fibre glass. It took ages to get money from the bus company. Bas,,,ds said if I was parked closer to the gutter then the bus would have missed me and gone thru the red light insread.....
Many of the passengers came to my rescue and offered to be witness' for me. Thanks to good people they could not wiggle out of the deal.
