Did this very same thing this weekend -- washed and waxed, went for a ride and the check engine came on.
For me, the problem was the rubber boot that covers the oil pressure sender, it was full of water. Emptied it out, removed the wire to ensure the light went off (it did) and then grounded the wire to ensure it went on (it did) -- reconnected the wire, all was fine.
On the twins at least, if the wire is grounded, the light comes on -- an insulating boot full of water grounds it out nicely! Hope this is your issue (or something equally as simple).
