How much is normal for the dealer to charge to download a new tune into your bike? I've got the Triumph CF High Mount can that I want to install. My dealer is telling me that it's 1 hour of labor....that seems quite excessive to me.

Also, are there any damaging side effects that could be caused by running with the standard tune with the race pipe? (like excessive blueing of the pipes, fouling of the plugs, etc.)?

Thanks

fwhite,

I installed my Triumph CF High Mount myself (easy to do), then took it to the dealer for the re-map..............they didn't charge me anything to do the re-map.

Not sure where your dealer is getting the "1" hour from, unless they are rounding up, which most likely they are. To install my exhaust myself took me about 15-20 minutes!!!!!!!

I would question your dealer about this before you get dinged for an hours labor on a 15 minute job........

Just my .000000002 cents...............................

By the way, from what I have read on some posts in this forum, I don't think it will hurt anything to ride around for a little while without the re-map, but I would recommend getting it done sooner then later. I think the biggest issue you may have to deal with is the popping/backfiring which is significantly reduced when you get the re-map done.

Ken

Chances are they have a minimum 1 hour charge. The remap is a 5 min max job.

+1.
Cost me zilch to remap for my Yosh full system. If possible, find another stealership.

Thanks for the replies! My dealer told me if they weren't so busy they would do it for free but that their service department is completely booked so he would have to take someone off something else to do it and that he'd have to book a full hour. Labor would be $70 and I'm just not cool with paying them that much for a 10 minute job (not to mention that I have to ride 40 miles of boring expressway to get there). I think I'll just put the pipe on tomorrow morning and see how it runs....maybe I won't actually need the remap. Anyone else running the Triumph CF High Mount with the stock tune?
