I participated on a track day recently on my S3. I’m not brave enough to get my knee down or any other part, but I’m wondering what part of the bike is going to hit the asphalt first while cornering. From pictures taken that day it seems like the footrest or the motor is going to get some damage first. Does anyone have experience of this?

Here is one picture: cornering

Thats a good photo, shows me clearance will never be a problem, looks like the peg might touch down first then maybe the clutch cover, but by then you would have tucked the front.
As far as getting your knee down, your lean angle is already way farther than it needs to be, now you just need to get your arse off to the side of the seat and put your knee out as a feeler.

Just get some leathers with knee sliders before that or you might regret it

It is designed so that the footpeg will touch first.

The picture (which is an excellent photo, by the way...wish the watermark across the middle wasn't there) makes it look as if the sidestand and shifter mechanism might be next, although I think that's just a question of perspective.

Looks as if that was a very fun day at the track.
