Wow, my first ever Triumph is about to become a reality. I pick up my new S3 on Tuesday and I can't wait.

I ordered it with the aftermarket Triumph mufflers fitted and having browsed your forum thought I'd ask if I need to get the dealer to load a different engine mapping or not?

Thanks for your help.

Johnny

hey Johnny67,

Good to see another s3 fan from Melbourne on this forum

I've been a member for most of this month and have followed several threads that deal with remapping and it seems that those who have had the new mapping downloaded report an improvement.

What dealer are you getting the bike from....and what colour.

Good luck....let us all know how you like it....I've got to wait another 3 weeks for mine.

I got my black S3 on Thursday and I'm loving it! Triumph and this style of motorcycle are a new experience for me and I'm well pleased with my decision so far. 640km up and I can't wait to get it fully run in.

I'm getting a mate to bring me back a set of ART carbon cans from the UK. I expect that a remap is in order with any less restrictive exhaust system.

I got the bike from Peter Stevens in Elizabeth Street and they tell me that the engine management system can self tune by 5% as needed so aremap is not needed.

So I'm not sure who else I need to ask to do the remap for me.

Any and all clues are most welcome!

I was dead set on a black S3, but the one in the showroom had all fingerprints and dust on it and it didn't look too flash so I got the scorched yellow.

Either way it'll be a change from my ZRX1100 that I traded in after 5 great years....

It can adapt to a change of as much as 5%, true, but that's not really enough for maximum effect with the new mufflers. Here in the States, most any dealer is eager to install the new map. I wonder why they're reluctant to do it?

Congratulations on the new bike, and for getting the scorched yellow. Mine's neon blue, and I'm a lot happier with it than I would have expected from the pictures on Triumph's web site...but after I saw a yellow one in person recently, I'm really impressed with it too. Either color shows the lines of the bike very nicely.

I have nothing against black. The S3 looks really aggessive in it, and two of my other bikes are black. But whereas my Tiger doesn't show dirt or fingerprints enough to notice, the Rocket definitely shows them to a larger degree. I guess the effect must vary by model.

I agree about the black. I made a special trip to the dealer to look at a customer's black '05 that was in for it's 500 mile service. They didn't have a new black one on the floor so before I commited to a color I wanted to check out the black. Well, the bike looked about 2 years old; dirt, grime, fingerprints. I bought the blue one they had on the showroom floor and haven't regretted it. Black looks good for about the first 5 minutes after washing/waxing it. After that I'd rather have any other color.
