Just rolled my new '05 S3 off the floor for a hair raising 12 mile ride home in a thunderstorm on new tires, heh. I was smilin' and terrified the whole ***** way! Now for the questions...

How do I get the seat off?

What type of valves? Shims or screw/lock-nut type?

What kind of oil does Triumph recommend and what type do folks in the real world use?

The seat comes off by turning the key in seat lock counter clockwise and at the same time pressing the back section of the seat.

Don’t know about the valves. Recommended oil is 10W-40 if I recall correctly.

The seat lock is on the left, somewhat recessed.

Valve adjustment is by shims.

The Triumph recommended oil is Mobil 1 Racing 4T. Many of us in the real world use it. Others use different synthetic or semisynthetic oils meeting the same specs as you'll find in your owner's manual; pay heed to the "and JASO M" spec for the sake of your gearbox. (And still others use any old sludge their personal whims dictate, but oil religions are a subject covered in way too many other threads already.)
