Just do me one favor, come back after about 500 miles on the 05, and answer this question yourself
Night and day, apples and oranges, white and black, no comparison.

You'll no doubt get differing opinions on this topic. The most important will be your own.
Here's mine.

I was thinking if I could get more customers on my paper route I just might do that.....but it certainly wouldn't be an '05, that would have been like buying an '84 Corvette.
I will be waiting until you first year guy's get all the bugs, oil leaks, gauge failures, clutch lock-ups, seat scratching the paint, tired assemblers putting the bikes together trying to fill orders out of the way.
Maybe an '06, unless MV comes out with a Brutale 1000 :-D

The brutale will be a 910cc, replacing the 750.

No doubt about it, kd, the '03 was a beauty, and I don't blame you for feeling a sentimental attachment. But like OMEGA says, let us know your own answer to the question in a few hundred miles.

I don't believe "mistake" will be in your vocabulary.

one mistake was not selling the frame protectors to me as a seperate item. I'd love to get a used pair!

Sorry, there is a comparison. Even in just the ergonomics, there is a fairly noticeable difference. I prefer the shape and contour of my 03 to the new seating position and higher ride height of the 05, but I like the updated parts. Its really a tossup considering the price difference and just some styling differences. I suppose if I were to ever wreck my 03, I'd probably get an 05 to replace her, but I would have to do a few modifications to a things to get the 05 sitting a little lower and looking good.

Congrats on the purchase. Hopefully, you'll be happy with the trade after riding the new one a thousand miles or so. You can't really feel a bike out until the tires no longer have chicken strips and the engine is run in.
