2001 Speed Triple

My brother has a 2001 Speed triple that he just bought used from someone. He was riding it on Saturday and the check engine light came on for some reason. We got to where we were going and it would not start up once he shut it down. He has never owned a Triumph and is sorta lost on which direction to look. Battery?

Any ensight would be appreciated. Sorry, but Im a Honda VTX1300C rider, so go easy on me... :hammer:

If it is on the original battery, that def. could be the problem. After you replace the battery, run the bike for 3 heat cycles:Start, get up to running temp, turn off x3, and the check engine light should go off. If not further testing is needed. I have an '01 and have had hardly any problems.
