Dealer changing out bodywork color?

Hello there. Has anyone ever heard of a dealer swapping out the bodywork on a Speed Triple for a different color to make a deal happen? And does anyone know what has seemed to be the most popular Speed Triple color in the U.S. for 08-09 models years? Just sold my Buell and if all goes as well, I may have me a new Speed Triple very soon. I am also considering the Street R. I hope it all comes together, cause I hated to see my bike go, and I'm itching to ride!

A larger dealer might do a swap and sell the others on flebay or something.
Good call on ditching the buell you'll like the speedie much better.

Depending on how big you are the street may be good for you too, I'm 6' and 220 lbs and I feel the street is too small for me, feels like a mini bike after I ride my speed. My two pennies anyway.

Speedie vs Street

I am 5'9. I can just about flat-foot the Speedie. I only weigh about 160, so I am pretty sure the one at the dealer was set up for someone a little heavier. With the right suspension setup, I should be good. Well, if the stars align right this weekend, I would love to be riding one next week! Thanks!

YES. Many dealers were swapping out the Rolleutte Greencolur for black I believe. I found alot of dealers selling green bodywork for as much as they could get from there shop or on E-Bay (thats haow I got my green set) For some reason everyone has wanted to copy everyone else and do BLACK. I have seen color change parts go on E-Bay from $700-$350 in all colors. There's one on E-Bay USA right now for a starting bid of $900.

The dealer I bought my '00 from had a complete set of Nuclear Red body work sitting on the shelf that they had swapped for black way back when. Came in handy when they puntured my gas tank. They just sprayed the red tank black and it was all fixed. I should go back and see how cheap they'll sell the rest of it for...

When I was buying my 08' my dealer had a leftover 07' with choice of either roulette green or white bodywork. I had asked about it and they said they've swapped colors to make some sales and had leftover bodywork from the transactions. So yes, its possible.

White to Black

When I bought my new Black '07 last November the dealer threw in the original white body work for free. I haven't decided yet whether to sell it or keep it just in case I drop it and need to replace any pieces.

When i was buying my bike i contemplated getting a blue 07.... note that blue wasnt a color offered for the 07 bikes, it was the bodywork they had swapped off their 06 demo bike, so not un-common at all.

I still sometimes wish i had gotten the blue one...

now you all know that if you put the white bodywork on the bike gets faster. You know that, right?
