My local Triumph dealer has just called me to advise me that my 2002 striple won't start due the starter motor sprag is no good..He wants £400/$750 to fix it.
This sounds a lot of money for me at the moment, so........
Anyone know if this is an easy job to do myself?
Can't be that difficult can it?

Thanks,

Rod

I thought the sprag clutch problem had been fixed with the later model engines - what is the symptom? If it's the sprag clutch the starter will just spin, not grabbing the crank.
It's a big job if it really is bad, engine out disassembly I believe.

The starter motor spins for about 3-4secs then dies away but the engine doesn't catch.
