Does anyone know how the EFI system on our bikes handles changes to the exhaust?

Since there's an O2 sensor I assume the bike works with some sort of a closed loop system. Typically, with a closed loop system the ECM can handle the effects of a free breathing exhaust so long as it's within the boundaries of the program. What is rather confusing is that Triumph has a map (flash) that is installed when you buy their race cans. I have to assume that it changes the baselines to more closely match the free flowing cans.

Would it be advisable to get the dealer to install the race can flash if you go to something like the Blueflame exhaust?

Will the dealer install the flash without the purchase of the Triumph race cans?

Is the flash en extra cost item or is it included in the price of the Triumph race cans?

I'm pretty good with EFI systems but I know very little about the one used on the '05 S3. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

(one other point, is it true that the US spec S3 has a catalytic converter? If so is it also safe to assume that the Triumph race can doesn't?)

You would want the dealer to download the race can map or the bike will lean out a bit and not work to full potential. Most dealers will do this for about $25

My dealer did it for £25; she runs much better with the Art cans and the remap. I beleive all of the 05s3 have a Cat converter irespective of the point of sale.

Hi all,

Do the ART cans just have a straight thru perforated tube absorbtion baffle? or are they road legal types. Have you had it set up on a dyno to check the air fuel ratio? or is that not necessary?
