So last weekend I was showing off my BRAND NEW S3 and 2 drunk guys next door got into it and knocked it over (2 guys the size of buildings)!!! Even now it makes me sick to talk about it. Well it completely bent my foot brake in and also left a scratch about the size of a quarter on the clutch case! I was able to bend out the brake enough to ride it still, but I had to order a new part. The brake is about $73 but the case is $180!! Has anyone new or old ever tried to buff out a scratch on the engine cases before? Dealers have no paint as it is powder coated and I talked to Triumph who had no answers either. Luckily it could have been worse but I hate knowing there is even a scratch on it. Anyone? I have seen engine protectors on a few sites, but they are for older models.

Get everything ordered, fixed, like it never happened...and hand them the bill.!!

I might even report it to the LEO's (Law Enforcement) - if you have to go to small claims to collect you're going to want to have that report in hand and ready.

I'd also keep a file of who what when where EVERYTHING..!! Times places - any contact with the fella's that caused it...what was said etc..!! You cannot keep TOO much info on this. It will only help you in court.
I'd also get some pictures of the damage.

How long was it on it's side --?
Could there be internal damage because of it being on its side for a time.? Fluids going where they shouldn't go..??

I'd have the dealer check out everything --!!
Then, present your "pals" with the bill and strictly enforce payment IN FULL up front.!!

My $.02 worth .. YMMV

Blessings and a quick resolve to this issue

That's bull***** man, I'm a bouncer at a bar and we have had drunk dudes fighting and causing trouble in the parking lot and as soon as something gets damaged Police are there. One guy got pissed that we kicked him out so he ripped the antenna off a car. I tackled his ass and got him arrested. Someone should have called the cops once these guys knocked over your bike. I can't even imagine what I'd do if someone jacked up my speed triple. When it comes to your bike don't mess around, call the cops. If you haven't called them yet, still call -it can't hurt. F' those guys, Good luck.

If you can't get restitution from those clowns and don't want to pay for a new case, you can lightly sand it down & repaint w/a semi gloss black paint. I've done it to mine & you can't see it unless you're really looking for it. Talked to my dealer & he said it's SOP for them.

If they don't pay up, go to work on the windhield of one of their cars at about 3AM with an aluminium baseball bat... just one good whack then flee. Those bastards have to pay one way or the other....

All

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, they were gone before I knew it (after picking up my bike and inspecting it) and no one knows who they are, not even the neighbors who were having the party. Anyway, I have ordered the brake and also will order the clutch case soon. Thinking I might use some carbon fiber accents until then. Will post some pics soon!

My sympathies. Mine went over the other day but totally my fault. Sounds like it's damaged in the same places too but I also cracked the front indicator lens and slightly bent the radiator cowl. Only the engine cover bothers me (the rest was easily fixed) so I may get it changed but I just know I'll do it again...

I'd look for those guys at your neighbors next party, and be waiting for them with some kind of payback. My bike went over a couple of years ago, thank's to an unattentive rider behind me. I was able to repair my bike with insurance money and get a few upgrades as well. Good Luck, and enjoy your bike.

what I have seen done is to sand out the rough spots in the case, and go to the hard ware store and get some high temp satin black and touch it up(tape off around the rest of the motor so you don't get any over spray). You will always know it is there, but 99% of the people that see your bike will never see it. It is low enough to the groung people don't see it.

Good luck and sorry to here about the bike,

Mike

Get carbon fiber case covers and you won't have to worry about scratching them up again. Get some frame sliders while you're at it too.
