Hello from sunny Florida
Got my 05 S3 2 days ago LOVE IT!
front brakes are a bit on the mushy side though,
I noticed a oil streams on the disc rotor slinging out from the small circular discs that let the brake rotor flex, cleaned off with brake cleaner and bled the brakes with filled with DOT 4 racing brake fluid "not for street" yea right ;-)

Does anyone have a hard time starting?
It will eventually start after about 20 rotations, is that normal?
My gixxer 750 starts immediatly

First the brakes can be pretty mushy. I happened to be in to the dealer the other day and they offered to bleed them free of charge (it seems this is a continuing problem out of the crate) Afterwards MUCH better. Trouble is, the bleed screw is below the banjo fitting so you have a heck of a time getting all the air out. Try removing the caliper and holding it inverted while bleeding (with the bleed screw above the banjo fitting.)

Also, it took a good 100+ miles for the pads to bed in before it really started to grab properly.

Second, my bike also has to turn over quite a few times before it fires. This only happens when it is cold though. I have a suspicion that it is related to a very lean fuel injection map. After cranking it from 3 to 4 seconds it fires right up and is fine the rest of the day. I'm really not to worried about it.

Otherwise, awesome bike!

My very first start turned over a bit. But now its not so bad. I think there is something wrong with my horn though. At first I thought it wasnt working at all. But at a stop I tried it again. I can hear it but it is real quiet. Kind of like you have your fingers on the horn trying to muffle it. Sometimes it gets louder but it never sounds right. Is mine defective? My brakes lack bite also. At first I attributed this to the warning tag that said the rotors were coated with a corrosion inhibitor that must be washed off. I tried to wipe them down with some soapy rags. That didnt really show much improvement so I wondered if the coating got on the pads. I think I will buy some brake cleaner then see about bleeding them.

Well I tested the brakes after bleeding and cleaning with break cleaner and they still in my opinion are "mushy" after 300 miles

I am compairing them to my GSXR which I can do a 2 finger stoppy ( if I had the balls) but the difference in stopping power is huge, no way can I do a 2 finger stop of any kind.

As far as the horn goes, mine works fine,
but it is kind of anemic

I read somewhere in an interview with one of the factory engineers that the front system was softened up for feel because they wanted a more linear actuation rather then the all at once feel you get from the race type systems.

I find them perfect for scrubing off speed and still don't need more than 2 fingers to actuate the lever. It's a whole lot less exciting in a tight situation on a bumpy road vs. some of the lightning quick levers on the repliracers IMHO.

I bled off a little more, and I got a better grab at the front, the pads are starting to seat, and I feel like I can take a couple of fingers off the lever

When I said I had 300 miles on it, I didn't calculate the fact that 230 miles were highway...my bad

The brakes are a softer than my track bike, took some getting use to, but I am starting to warm up to the feel,

The horn is still pathetic,
I'm embarrassed to beep at anybody.
Going to get some Roadstar horns... sounds just like a caddy

Finally tested the throddle a little...gets to the redline fast!
continuous pull...GREAT BIKE...except the horn :chug:

The horn is pretty loud.
I had the same problem with the horn, it sounded soft. I turned the horn and wiggled it and bam, the horn came alive. Give that a try.
