Hi, you lucky lot!

Could someone with an '05 accomodate with a measurement (& similar pic if possible) to check on the length of the clutch actuator arm - rumour has it it's longer on the new bikes.
Can anyone who has also had both a previous model S3 and the new one comment on any difference in the clutch lever effort?

Yes, you have heard correctly. Mine measures 40mm or just over 1.5 inches. Therefore it is about 1cm longer than the picture you posted. Significant.

You must remember too that the 05 has a very different clutch.

I can't comment on the clutch pull though. I have never had an S3 before. However, it seems to me to be heavier than my Speed Four. YMMV

40 mm on an '04 Daytona SE. Owner says that it is an early '04. I measured the clutch actuator arm on his bike at work today.

You guys have to squeeze tennis balls or something! My clutch isn't hard to pull in at all. It is harder to pull than the one on the CB 350, though.

I said it was heavier than my Speed Four, not that it was particularly heavy.

But my grip isn't what it used to be. Back in the day when I was a heavy equipment mechanic I used to be able to crack walnuts between my thumb and forefinger. Those 15 inch four pound wrenches built some strength! Wrestling around those 250-300 pound tires didn't hurt either. Who needs a health club membership?

It's all relative guys - obviously not impossible, but clearly much stiffer than Japanese clutch pull, at least in the comparisons I've made.
I for one would pefer if it was lighter, but certainly not advocating everyone needs to make this change - however there does appear to be enough interest (i.e. more than one!) between the two sites that it was worthy of discussion at least.
