As promised, I finally got some miles on my 2003 S3 with the mounted WOLF Hi-mount exhaust fitted last weekend.

Below is my "take" on the product and of the purchase.....

#1. Wolf Exhaust - and Peter Sorrell are wonderful people to deal with. Timely info and emails back to address any questions almost as soon as I could send them. Incredibly easy to work with and what they say is what you get...no issues - no surprises - a rarity in web businesses these days.

#2. Shipping - there again, incredibly fast turn around. I was startled to find out how quickly the can was made - sent - delivered - and in my hands. Even that it made the trip from across the pond without issue is a testament of their technique in keeping the customer in mind. Wonderful job.!

#3. Product - I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the oval can I received. Nicely constructed and quality made. I had a small issue with fitting the connector pipe to the can (openings seemed to be the same size) but tooled it so that it slipped inside without to much effort and fitment was fine once completed. All components were sent and accounted for except for the strap attachment bolt and nut, it was missing in action...no biggie here - Peter just owes me a beer sometime..!! 8^) I had toyed back n forth with purchasing the Triumph hi-mount...but upon wanting the "Micron/Staintune" sound - I went with the Wolf...and dang happy I did. It is almost a direct mimic of these performance cans and the quality is equal to the competition. (note that neither Micron or Staintune make a can to fit the S3 2003 edition).
Upon fitting the pieces together I did note that the can strap looked like nothing I had ever seen...when I pulled it out of the box it was round and big, perhaps too big for the oval I purchased. I have other friends that have aftermarket exhausts on a variety of scoots...none of them have straps that aren't tight against the can and look extremely "fitted" to the size of the can. This strap is too big..!! Way to big for my oval. We had our annual bike RIDE-IN last Sunday - many commented on the can but many had issues with that blinkin' strap..!! This is the only gripe I have with the whole purchase. Several emails - even my emails with pictures yesterday showing huge gaps between the can and the strap. Not what I would call truely fitted. On the other hand - Peter has been more than helpful and gracious in trying to rectify the problem. I am still working on the tightening of this strap. If I would of opted for the ROUND can - I am certain I would not have the problem. So, I'll tinker a bit more with it and see if the gaps can't be done away with. I guess knowing what I know and seeing the quality of the product for sale - I would be manufacturing and marketing a strap that fits perfectly the OVAL can so that this small problem could be alleviated. A small problem to fix from their end in GBritain and more satisfied customers here. Win = Win

#4. Performance/Sound - Well, as stated before the sound is stellar - exactly what I wanted. I really do not see or feel any performance changes...certainly nothing detracting from OEM performance. I have not done any ECU mapping changes yet -- and have experienced no backfiring or idle issues or studdering or surging. -0- zero nada nothing. That's a good thing. No extra costs

#5. Time will tell - if the product stands up to long drives and heat issues. Time will also show if the finish will hold up to the riggers of Iowa's changing climate from season to season. I look forward to listening to it echo through the corn fields of Iowa..yeah baby.!!

Finally, if you are looking for a Micron sound on your S3 - Look no further than the Wolf Exhaust.

*Note* I have no affiliation with Wolf Exhaust or Peter Sorrell. Just a satified customer with little or no issues with the manufacturer and my recent purchase, that's all.

Blessings,

John

The can should stand up fine to your climate being all stainless but if you get salt on the roads in winter don't forget to clean the end caps as they can go dull quite quickly if the salt and road muck isn't cleaned off...

You'll see a goodpower gain when you get the download done too!

I second the request for pictures. I'm trying to decide between the Wolf and Triumph carbon fiber high mount exhausts. It's tough without being able to see them installed on a S3 (or hear them for that matter). I've seen lots of Triumph can pics, but few or no Wolf pictures. If you could post or email a shot or two that would be cool.

Jzimm - there are some pics in the gallery section at www.wolfracing.co.uk and I'll be adding a lot more on an 05 Daytona over the weekend (which fits the same as the S3 of course)
