im about to gut a stock daytona oval can for use on my s3. any tips or tricks that anyone has to share would be greatfully appreciated.....

I thought about doing this too -- you might want to locate a local welding shop that gets into welding stainless steel so that you'll know the costs going in to weld the cap back on the OEM can.

I thought it might be the fix to purchasing aftermarket...but once off and I looked at it from both ends...I ended up getting the Wolf hi-mount.

I felt the work to dismantle a perfectly good exhaust can wouldn't be in my best interest.

Knowing that you have the second one though - I'd find a guy in the welding biz and check rates to see if it would be even plausible cash wise to do it.

Cutting off the end and gutting isn't where the money is -- refitting the end cap and making it look good would be the rub, ... , no ??

I believe I saw a post either on the t595.net site or the t955i.net about someone gutting a stock can. The basics was cutting the end off and removing the inner resonator assy and then reattaching and re welding the cap on. It will probably need some tweaking since there will be less backpressure and maybe some tune issues.
