I got my Speed Triple -05 yesterday and I have noticed that the instrumentation-display restarts (self-test) from time to time. It has happened both while riding and when standing still (with engine running, if I remember correctly). Has anyone else experienced this?

Seems like there is something wrong (a bad connection somewhere?) with your bike. I have not seen this bug on my '05 Triple.

The only time the display seems to do the restart is after I set the gear change lights or turn on the bike.

Yeah, there's definitively something wrong with your display

The back of your instrument cluster comes off by pulling it back. It's held on by plastic mushrooms heads through rubber grommets. No tools necessary. (It's made to come off easily to attach the Triumph flyscreen)

Take it off and check the electrical connector block to the instruments. It should seat and connect with a click. My guess is that this connector is not fully seated and causing intermittant disconnections.

Good luck with it. Let me know how you do.

Thanks for the tip/info Sir_Loin, I'll check it out & return with the results when/if I notice any difference.

I checked the connector block, but it didn't seem to do the trick. I have also experienced a total display-freeze when I was driving. The speedometer stuck at 45km/h and 0 rpm regardless of actual speed/rpm, it even displayed this info a long time after I had stopped the engine and removed the key. I then restarted the bike and drove for another 5-10 mins, and the display started working again after a high rpm acceleration. Strange... :???:
