I checked the connector block, but it didn't seem to do the trick. I have also experienced a total display-freeze when I was driving. The speedometer stuck at 45km/h and 0 rpm regardless of actual speed/rpm, it even displayed this info a long time after I had stopped the engine and removed the key. I then restarted the bike and drove for another 5-10 mins, and the display started working again after a high rpm acceleration. Strange... :???:
Sorry to hear that you have not solved your problem. It seems that I might be joining you with my diplay problems as mine is also playing tricks on me.

My display once stopped showing any info from the engine. Speed, revs and engine temp all showed 0, but otherwise the display was working and engine ran fine. This happened when I had ridden the bike for a few hours and was still cruising along.

After I stopped the bike for a few seconds and turned it back on again the diplay came back to life and has been working fine since.

I sure would appreciate any tips on what connectors or sensors I should & could double check easily, because I really do not want to take the bike to the dealer for warranty work as they are sloooooooow and have weeks worth of ques for any service.

I'll return (to this thread) with more info about this after my first service (next week, monday morning), if they manage to find out what is wrong with the display.

[UPDATE]
Ok, at my first service (this morning) I spoke to the mechanic and told him about my trouble with the display. He checked it, but couldn't find out what was wrong (no error codes, loose cables etc). So he ordered a new complete display to replace mine ( should arrive within a week or so), after that I'll see if the problems a related to the display only.

Thanks for the update and please keep us posted as your problems seem to be almost identical to mine. My display has started to do the resets a lot more recently.

Someone on another thread suggested that a similar problem on the earlier S3s would have been caused by low battery. I will hook the battery on an Optimate overnight and see if that does anything.

Update: I decided to s***** the Optimate idea after taking a multimeter to the bike. The battery seems fine. 12.75V with bike off, 12.00V with lights on and ~14.40V while running. So it definitely is OK and charging while the bike is running.

Also checked the connector block behind the display. Seemed fine and well greased. Took it out and bent the pins just a bit to make sure they connect well, but I doubt this is the source of the problem either.

I wonder where the actual engine sensor end of the lead is?

My display clock keeps resetting to "1:00"
and my trip odometers stay at zero. My dealer does not know what to make of it, but it looks like a replacement display will be necessary.....

Looks like I'll have to take mine is as well.

Mine also started to reset to 1:00 about 4 times during today's short ride. And I just picked it up three days ago. :hammer:

I got a new display (under warranty) a couple of weeks ago and I haven't had a problem with it ever since.

Ditto for me. They ordered me a new display and it should arrive next weekend. If you cant get the display to turn on, pull fuse 5 and reinsert it. This has been my solution up until now .

guess this problem is more widespread than we thought at first.

I wonder how many free miles the average '05 owner has got due to this as the odometer will also reset to zero when they change the display unit.

I got ~5000km, but decided to play it honest and got my service pass stamped also.
