A few questions on installing the hi-mount CF can (since it didn't come with instructions)...
Does the S-bend slip over the header pipe?
Does the silencer slip into the S-bend?
Does the tab coming off the silencer go to the inside or outside of the support bracket?
I thought I had everything installed properly and snugged down tight, but when I pulled on the muffler, it seemed like there was still a bit of play or rotation at the S-bend...
Yeah Ghost - I'm following your lead! I ordered a set of spacers from SkyKing and they automatically included an extra pair of the shorter allen bolts (based on your experience I would assume!)
I have everything dry-fitted and it's looking good - I was just a bit worried about the extra play. When I do the real-deal install, I'm gonna use some hi-temp sealant at the joints to hopefully seal up any leaks. The instructions for the TwoBros. can recommends using the sealant as well...
It was hard to resist firing her up last night after the dry-fit... I can't believe how heavy the stock can is!
Like many others on this forum, I went with the Triumph hi-mount CF racing can - seemed to be the best balance of price, performance, sound, and Triumph has a map designed specifically for it...
I considered getting a Wolf or Powermax undertail system, but I heard from others on the forum that they were a pain to install (lots of cutting and relocating stuff) and were cost prohibitive...
I noticed that you have the '05 Speed Triple - I'm sure Triumph, Wolf, and others probably have some aftermarket cans in the works for your bike... Happy hunting!
I just mounted my WOLF high mount to my '03 S3...stainless and absolutely no backfires or any issues with it...haven't even remapped - or see the need too.
Watch for my full test review coming by next week in its own thread.
